Dr. Jon Bassett- Director of Choral Studies

Dr. Jon Bassett joined the Florida College Music Department faculty in 2001, possesing an amazing breadth of experience. He has utilized that experience to the betterment of the entire music department, growing and maturing the chorus program. Dr. Bassett's work earned him tenure in 2006. The love for music he teaches the students has earned him consistent high ranking amongst the top rated faculty, as demonstrated by being voted Top Rated Activities Proffesor  in 2015-2016.

Dr. Bassett earned his undergraduate and graduate degree in Music Education from Arkasas State, all while playing in the Northeast Arkansas Symphony Orhcestra. He immediately began working, and taught secondary music in Arkansas for the next six years. While working full time at Florida College, Dr. Bassett began work on a Ph.D in Music Education at the University of South Florida, earning the terminal degreen in 2010.

Led by Dr. Bassett, the Florida College Chorus goes on an annual tour. The tour takes students around a part of the country for 8-9 days, where students get to perform, often collarborating with other collegiate ensembles. Giving students valuable experience is of the utmost importance to Dr. Bassett, and he works to find new doors to open to them. In June of 2017 Dr. Bassett will take the Florida College Chorus overseas to compete for the first time in Florida College History.
