All Scholarships at Florida College

Music Scholarship

The Music Scholarship is available to music majors. To be considered for a Music Scholarship, students will fill out an online scholarship application form and complete an audition. Auditions will consist of two contrasting pieces of the student’s choice, and they can be done in-person or submitted as a video. The application deadline is April 1 of the enrollment year. Please contact Dr. Bassett at bassettj@floridacollege.edu with any questions.

Ensemble Scholarships

Ensemble Scholarships are available to students who participate in (select) Florida College music ensembles. These are available to students of any major. See below for the requirements for each ensemble.

Chorus | Chamber Singers | Friends | Unplugged | FC Accents

Fill out the Ensemble Scholarship form by April 1. (Music Majors who applied for a Music Scholarship do not need to fill out the Ensemble Scholarship form.) These ensembles require an audition to participate in the ensemble, which will double as the scholarship audition. There is no separate scholarship audition.

Band Scholarship

Students interested in a Wind or Jazz Ensemble will fill out a Band Scholarship application form. Scholarship auditions vary by ensemble and instrument; they can be in person or can be sent by video to Mr. Rainwater at rainwaterb@floridacollege.edu. The application deadline is May 31.

Wind Ensemble Scholarship Audition:

Winds: Concert Db major, A major, and C harmonic minor scales as many octaves as possible; full-range chromatic scale (tonguing up and slurring down); two solo or etude excerpts (1-2 minutes each), with one demonstrating technical ability and the other showcasing musicality.

Percussion: One excerpt per major instrument (snare, timpani, mallet). Demonstration of proficiency on auxiliary instruments can be beneficial but is not required.

Jazz Ensemble Scholarship Audition:

Winds: Wind Ensemble audition is sufficient. A big band excerpt, jazz standard, or improvised solo is beneficial but not required.

Drum set: Demonstrate all of the jazz styles you know. This can include swing (fast, medium, slow), ballad with brushes, rock, funk, and various forms of Latin.

Guitar, bass, and piano: Contact Mr. Rainwater for instructions at rainwaterb@floridacollege.edu.
